Origins. Formed during World War II as the "Women's Auxiliary," we obtained formal IRS non-profit status in 2005 as the "Friendship Ambulance Auxiliary Foundation" or FAAF. Funded entirely by private tax-deductible donations, we are engaged in many projects designed to improve the overall health of Friendship residents. These projects include funding the town's yearly free vaccination and health clinic; providing medical alert buttons for seniors who are unable to afford them; sponsoring EMT and CPR training; and funding emergency ambulance transports for needful patients. In the past, we also gave medical equipment to local agencies for free loans to patients, and provided funds to purchase a town fire and rescue boat, town automated external defibrillators, and an automated CPR device for the ambulance service.
The FAAF has arranged for the online mental health platform BetterHelp to provide residents of Friendship with access to one month of counseling at no cost. This is a completely confidential service and includes counseling for grief, stress, couples, and many other types. No information that identifies users of the service will be shared with the FAAF. (The FAAF is offering this as a pass-through service only, makes no representations regarding the effectiveness of the BetterHelp services, and encourages all interested parties to make their own inquiries about the BetterHelp program before signing up.)
